ROAM 2019’s Best Spring Break Photos

ROAM’s editors pick the most moving shots of the season.

Even though the extended winter of 2019 cast an overcast tone, the winners of ROAM’s Spring Photo Contest prove every place looks beautiful in blue.

Amy Allen of Atlanta won our editors’ hearts with her unique angle on the Eiffel Tower.

“Our kids both love Paris. There is so much to see that you could easily spend a full day just walking around the city,” says Allen. “We had been up the Eiffel Tower before so this time, we decided to find some fun spots in the area so we could appreciate it from ground level. We spent the day visiting parks, restaurants and even a street festival in the area, all with the iconic tower as the backdrop.”’

Despite carrying her Nikon DSLR and Canon G7X, Allen snapped this shot on her iPhone 7, edited it in Lightroom at lunch, and uploaded it right then. But finding the right site was no accident.

“I spent a lot of time stalking Paris photography spots before our trip,” says Allen, who researched popular hashtags and locations on Instagram.  “This photo was taken on a bridge called Pont de Bir-Hakeim. I love the perspective and the composition that the bridge columns offer. We really liked this place – it wasn’t crowded at all – and the nearby Trocadero, too.”

The Paris shot was only one of many gorgeous shots from the Allen’s spring break trip to Europe. See more on her Instagram, including her quintessential spring daffodils shot from The Netherlands.
