ROAM held an Instagram photo contest during the last week of March 2020 to encourage followers to post their microtravel photos and @moon_fam_adventures won our $100 prize! The LA family of five saw a dinosaur parade going by during their quarantine – lucky them!!!

On April 1, ROAM will pick one $100 winner at random from all the Instagram accounts that entered! Our editors will also pick their favorite microtravel shots to feature on ROAM in April. See full contest rules and details below.

For example, the photos on this page are from my neighborhood in Dillon Beach, California. It’s a tiny spot on the coast about an hour north of San Francisco. Most of the cottages are over a century old and hang onto a lot of their original “fishing village” character. No matter how many times we walk the blocks, we always find something new and fun to photograph. (A drinking fountain?! Wow!)

ROAM 2020 Microtraveler Photo Contest FAQ – Terms & Conditions
Here’s the quick scoop on the contest – and the full rules below. Good luck!
- Prizes: 1st Place – $100, drawn at random from Instagram accounts that enter ROAM’s Microtraveler Contest.
- Dates: Deadline is March 31, 2020. Winner will be notified via Instagram DM, paid via PayPal, and announced in early April 2020.
- How to Enter: Follow ROAM on Instagram, post your favorite microtravel photo on Instagram & tag @ROAMFamilyTravel and #microtravelers
- Rules: Photos may be edited. Multiple entries are fine but winner will be drawn at random from Instagram accounts that enter. Complete rules are below.
- Judging: ROAM editors Maryann Jones Thompson and Liliia deCos will choose the random winner. Other editors will help pick the favorites to feature in the ROAM article.

This Instagram Photo Contest is run by ROAM Family Travel, 585 Howard Street, 2nd Floor, San Francisco 94105

This contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram.

By entering the competition each entrant agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions. ROAM Family Travel contributors, contractors and their relatives are excluded from the competition.

Applicants must be of 13+ and a valid United States resident. Photos can be digitally enhanced if desired.

The ROAM Family Travel Instagram Contest will run on the official ROAM Family Travel Instagram account.

The closing date for entry will be at 11:59 PM (PDT) on March 31, 2019. After this date no further entries to the competition will be permitted.

The winner will be drawn at random and will receive $100 via PayPal. The winner agrees to have his or her Instagram account and photo promoted on ROAM and its social media accounts.

The winner must be able to receive and redeem the prize via PayPal and email and provide a valid email address.

The winner will be chosen at random by two ROAM editors using a random number generator to choose from the accounts that are entered. Each Instagram account will only be included in the drawing one time.

Entries that are deemed inappropriate and/or offensive will not be included. You are liable for the content of your entry.

There are no limiting amount of times that a person can enter but each Instagram account can only win once per year.

There is no cost involved to enter.

ROAM Family Travel accepts no responsibility for entries not received.

The winner will be notified by ROAM Family Travel in April 2020 via Instagram direct message.

A winner will forfeit his/her prize if he/she is in breach of any of the terms and conditions or has found to have manipulated the competition.

The winner must respond back to ROAM Family Travel’s Instagram direct message within 3 days. If the prize is unclaimed after this time, it will lapse and ROAM Family Travel reserves the right to offer the unclaimed prize to a substitute winner.

Data relating to entrants will be retained by ROAM Family Travel for a reasonable period after the competition closes to assist ROAM Family Travel to operate competitions in a consistent manner and to deal with any queries on the competition.

ROAM Family Travel will only be liable for intent and negligence, except in case of a negligent breach of an essential contractual commitment. In this case, the liability of ROAM Family Travel with simple negligence is limited to the predictable damage which is typical for raffles. The limitation of liability is not valid in case of damage of life, body or health. There is no right of appeal. An enforceable claim for the winnings or the payout in cash does not exist.

ROAM Family Travel respects photographers’ copyrights. Upon submitting a photograph to this contest, you grant ROAM Family Travel the right to publish that photograph for editorial or promotional use without compensation as part of promoting the ROAM photo contest winners online and in print.
