Guess Where? Quiz – National Parks of the East

Most of America’s outdoors has re-opened for business - perhaps it’s not yet business as usual but at least they’re starting to welcome visitors. After our journey through the WEST, we head EAST this week for ROAM’s “Guess Where?” family travel trivia quiz.

While there’s a lot of national “monuments” or “sites” east of the Mississippi, there are far fewer “parks.” So this quiz is a bit tough! Are you ready? Let's get started!

1.

This park in the Appalachian mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina gets more visitors than any other National Park - 12.5 million in 2019! That’s more than double that of Grand Canyon National Park.
2.

You can only get to this Florida national park of seven islands by boat or seaplane.
3.

Just 75 miles from Washington D.C., Skyline Drive is the most famous bike and car route in this national park because it drives across the ridge of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
4.

There are no prehistoric animal bones in this Kentucky park but there are 400+ miles of caves underground making it the longest cave system in the world!
5.

You can find crocodiles, alligators AND caimans in this massive National Park in the center of Florida.
6.

This 2,180-mile trail runs from Georgia to Maine along the eastern U.S. passing through 8 national forests but only 2 national parks - Shenandoah and Great Smoky Mountains.
7.

At 1,532 feet, Cadillac Mountain is the highest peak on the east coast and can be found in Maine’s famous coastal national park.
8.

Hiking and canoeing through river wetlands and America’s last stand of old-growth “bottomland” hardwood brings visitors to Congaree National Park in this southern state.
9.

Some say Isle Royale National Park is one of the least visited but most REVISITED national parks. The road-less, wilderness archipelago in Michigan is perfect for backpacking, kayaking and even diving in which Great Lake?
10.

You are going to want to take a “bath” at America’s smallest official national “park” in Arkansas.
